A former boy’s mission school, the museum is home to a collection of contemporary art from the region, including works by 12 Singapore-based artists.
The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) has a great collection of contemporary art from the region. It has showcased a variety of paintings, sculptures & art installations by various artists. Its permanent gallery, Once Upon This Island, comprises works by 12 Singapore-based artists that explore what it means to live in this contemporary city-state. Travellers can also visit SAM at 8Q, a wing of the museum located across the road, to see the Moving Image Gallery, where film screenings are held. There are cafés and restaurants for visitors to have a meal after art appreciation.
