People’s Park
The People’s Park Food Centre had its beginnings as a humble “food shelter” set up by the municipality in 1923 to provide cover for street hawkers in the area. The first shelter had proven to be so popular amongst the hawkers that within months after its opening, more were added and the municipality “turned” it into a market.

By 1930, such was its success that it was made into a day and night market. From then, it continued growing. By 1940, the market had 323 stalls, making it Singapore’s largest market then. It was during this time that the market had become famous for its durian stalls, which remained open until 2 am for fruit lovers. It was this legacy that made it Singapore's first and oldest pasar malam (“night market” in Malay).

Everything changed in December 1966 when a great fire wiped out the stalls and shops. The current site was rebuilt in 1968 as a “shopping cum residential complex” with food centre that soon became a favourite among tourists and Singaporeans.
Bras Basah Complex
One of Singapore's oldest districts, Bras Basah derived its name from the Malay term 'wet rice' which were once laid out on the banks of Bras Basah River (known as the Stamford Canal today). The founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles, picked the area to be the European part of Singapore Town.

The road is said to be so named because in the early days, a small river known as Fresh Water Stream or Sungei Bras Basah (Bras Basah River) used to exist here.
Bras Basah Road was once also known as College Street because Singapore's first educational institution (today's Raffles Institution) was located along it. Today, Bras Basah Road is part of the Bras Basah. Bugis Precinct, the arts, culture, learning and entertainment district in the city's centre.

Bras Basah Complex is the communal retail space that delivers a curated selection of specialty stores, featuring Singapore’s unique cultural heritage in a charming time capsule set in the heart of the city. During the earlier days, Bras Basah Complex also used to be a place where Xinyao (repertoire of Mandarin songs) concerts were held.
珍珠百货商场

百胜楼
百胜楼是新加坡最古老的地区之一，它的名字来源于马来语“湿米”，它曾经位于湿米河（今天称为斯坦福运河）的岸边。新加坡的创始人史丹福莱佛士爵士将这里选为新加坡城的欧洲部分。据说这条路之所以如此命名，是因为在早期，一条小河被称为淡水溪流或双溪巴沙巴沙（湿米河）曾经在这里存在。

勿拉士峇沙路曾经也被称为学院街，因为新加坡的第一所教育机构（今天的莱佛士书院）就位于它旁边。今天，百胜楼的路是勿拉士峇沙路的一部分。武吉士专区，位于市中心的艺术、文化、学习和娱乐区。百胜楼是一个公共零售空间，提供精选的专卖店，在位于市中心的迷人时光胶囊中展示新加坡独特的文化遗产。百胜楼也是过去是举办新谣活动的热门地点。
